Throwing Potions
Explosive Potions
Undrinkable potions, these are equipped and thrown at a target. There
are three types, "Fulminating", "Exploding", and "Oil." Explosive potions deal
physical damage, and their explosive radius is enough to strike several
tightly-bunched monsters at once. These are not weapons that you can use all
the time, they are meant for occasional supplemental service, to root out an
entrenched spell-casting monster, or to nail or clear a path to a shaman in the
back line of a bunch of zombies or Fallen.
The names
of the explosive potions have changed several times recently. No testing has
been done to determine exact damage and blast radius as of yet. Both exploding
and poison potions can be found on monsters, produced from the respective
shrine, or bought from certain NPCs.
- All characters can wield throwing
potions in one hand and a shield in the other. However only the Barbarian may
wield two throwing weapons at once, or a throwing weapon and a melee
weapon.
- All throwing potions occupy a 1x1
space in the inventory, and can stack up to ten per slot.
- Items with "n/a" listed as a price
are not sold by NPCs and can only be found from monsters.
- Throwing potions have a "Fast"
attack rate for all characters.
- All figures and graphics subject
(even likely) to change.

Poison Potions
The three
types of Poison potions vary in damage and duration of poison dealt. Poison
potions blow up on impact, dealing poison damage to their target, and also
issuing a small poison cloud that will sicken anything that enters it. The
damage from the initial impact, the poison cloud, the length of time "being
poisoned" lasts, and the damage "being poisoned" deals per click all varies
between the different types of potions.

Quest Potions
To the disappointment of every would-be
spellcaster out there, there is no potion concoction in Diablo 2. But, who
knows, there may be a Horadric Cube recipe that makes some yet unknown potion.
The only potion you will run in to in the game that is tied to a quest is the
Potion of Life, given to you after you complete a quest for Alkor in Act
III.
