DII Suggestions

Rare items are fun, and much more frequently found than Uniques, so most everyone who spends any time playing in the Diablo II Closed Beta, or Stress Test, will find a few. Even if you don't get a super-quality Rare, just seeing the shiny yellow letters are always exciting, and you'll usually be moved to I.D. the item right then and there, rather than waiting until you get back to town.

Rares are randomly-generated and named, and have hundreds of potential modifiers.  With from 2-6 (or more) properties found on each Rare item, there are nearly infinite possible Rares.  Since a full listing is impossible, we will instead post some of the best and worst in these Hall of Fame pages, with a few comments on them each.

Rare items don't have individual graphics, like Uniques do.  They just use normal base item graphics, some with hue shifts caused by their modifiers.  Therefore we don't include an image of the item here, since you can see what a sword sword, or bardiche, or leather armor, or whatever, looks like elsewhere in our Items section.  The Rares you see here now are all weak items, since they were found all in Act One, during the Closed Beta, or the Stress Test.  In the full game, Rares found in Act Three and Four will be far better than anything imagined thus far, and when you get to the higher difficulty levels, look out.
