Skull Gems

Skull gems are the most recently-revealed type of gem, just added to the game since our trip to Blizzard North in mid-December. Higher quality skull gems are apparently identical in appearance to lower quality ones, but this will likely change and there will be five graphics for them for the final game.   Skull gems have a higher sell price than any of the other types of gems.   Flawed, normal, and flawless skulls have progressively fewer cracks in the skull, but this is hard to tell without magnifying the image.  Our suggestion is that the skull should grown horns or something as it went up in quality.  Cooler, and much more visible.

Skull gems have changed substantially in the v1.10 beta patch.  THey got a lot better, basically.  Especially as they go up in quality, and with gem shrines being so common now, that's a handy thing.

Consider all skull gem stats subject to change since the patch, and we'll be updating them as we gather the info.

  • "Normal" gems are just referred to by the gem's name, so a normal skull gem would say "skull gem" when hovered on, not "normal skull gem."
  • All gems require 1x1 space in the inventory, and can not be stacked.
  • The numerical info on modifiers is mostly estimated now, but is very close to exact. Most gems have an allowed range each, such as 10-14%, so expect some variation.
