Emeralds

Emeralds are a lovely green, and are poisonous.  When in a weapon they do not always poison the target, but they do most of the time.  It is unknown if higher quality emeralds have a better % chance of poisoning.  There also appears to be some poison damage dealt at the time of the strike, but how much is not displayed in the hover text, so testing would be required to figure this out.

The Dexterity bonus from Emeralds in a helm isn't that large, so they seem to be best used in your shield if you need the Poison resistance, or else in your weapon, to deal the poison damage and also to poison the target.  And to make it a cool green.

Note: There was a bug that causes the affects of emeralds on weapons to multiply instead of add. This is fixed in the full game.

  • "Normal" gems are just referred to by the gem's name, so a normal emerald would say simply "emerald" when hovered on.
  • All gems require 1x1 space in the inventory, and can not be stacked.
  • The numerical info on modifiers is mostly estimated now, but is very close to exact. Most gems have an allowed range each, such as 10-13%, so expect some variation.
