Monster experience in Diablo 2 works on a similar system to the one used by many other popular RPGs. In Diablo 2, a character who is within 5 levels of the monster's level will receive full experience for it. Killing a monster further away from your level will result in a smaller experience gain, as many in the Stress Test have seen. This works on both sides, so a level 1 killing a level 10 monster such as Blood Raven will actually receive very little experience. This is to keep low level characters from tagging along with characters who are much higher in level. There aren't enough high level monsters in the Stress Test to learn about the lower side of the experience curve, but the higher side is summed up below:

• At six levels above, you get ~80% of the total experience
• At seven levels above, you get ~60% of the total experience
• At eight levels above, you get ~40% of the total experience
• At nine levels above, you get ~22.5% of the total experience
• At ten or more levels above, you get 5% rounded down of the total experience

Unique monsters, including special ones like Corpsefire and Coldcrow, are worth 5x as much exp and are 3 levels higher than their regular counterparts. Champions are worth 3x as much exp and are 2 levels higher than their regular counterparts. Since Dark Rangers are normally worth 54 experience, Coldcrow is worth 270 experience, making her and any other Dark Ranger uniques the largest experience-givers in the Stress Test. However, Blood Raven is higher level and therefore she gives more experience to characters level 14 and above. We've gone to great lengths to fill out a table of the experience that you gain for killing monsters in the Stress Test. If there are more players in the game, these values will increase, but their relative ratios will stay the same.

Note: some of these data points are the result of speculation, but they are all within a few of their real value.
