Andariel
Ancient Horadric texts record that Andariel and the other Lesser Evils once
overthrew the three Prime Evils - Diablo, Mephisto and Baal - banishing them
from Hell to our world. With this betrayal weighing against her, Andariel's
presence in Sanctuary can only mean that the forces of Hell are once again
aligned behind Diablo and his Brothers. While it is clear that the Maiden of
Anguish is acting on behalf of Diablo to prevent anyone from following him
eastward, it is also clear that she must be destroyed if the Lord of Terror is
to be stopped.
Tips and Other Additional Information Andariel has a deadly poison
attack she will cast when you get up close. Whenever possible fight from a
distance. Open up a Town Portal before fighting Andariel so that you can easily
get back to your body if you die. You can also use this Town Portal to escape if
the fight goes badly. You can lead Andariel in circles around the little lake
before the two doors into her lair if you need time to heal or for Healing
Potions to take effect.
Andariel, one of the lesser Evils
from Hell, has come to the mortal realm to escape the underworld civil war
between her brothers Azmodan and Belial. She now seeks to prove her worth to the
Three Prime Evils. Her first step was to invade the Rogue monastery in Khanduras
and subvert the Sisters of the Sightless Eye to do her bidding. Andariel is at
the heart of the troubles you investigate in Act I, and you must subsequently
slay her at the very depths of the monastery in order to solve these problems.
Such violence is the way of everything. Her final throne room is filled with
ghastly apparitions, corpses of slain Rogues strewn about and impaled as
trophies. She surrounds herself with a host of monsters, including Hellhounds,
Dark Fallen, and Ghouls; be prepared to come against some very stiff competition
before you can hope to meet Andariel in single combat. Andariel herself is every
bit a demoness, from the mildly frightening hair and the impromptu halter, to
the four claw-like appendages sprouting from her backside and those ever
tasteful nipple chain/rings.
Andariel has three main attacks. The
first is a fast bolt of green poison that is rarely used, except at extreme
range. It can travel on for several screens at a time and seems to do more
damage than her other poison attack. The second attack an incredibly nasty
ranged poisonous cloud attack. She takes her left arm, swings it out in a
backhand sweep in front of her, and a stream of poisonous green mist arcs out in
front of her. There isn't much way you can do to get out of the way other than
to hide behind a pillar or get lucky, since the poison arcs out at about a 45
degree angle, and travels for at least two screens. Both poisonous attacks drain
hitpoints at an incredibly rate, and one or two doses of it can be enough to
take any player out. The third attack is a melee sting that involves Andariel
getting down on a knee, bowing her head forward, and extending all 4 spikes from
her back in your direction. Recently, this attack has been powered up by a
considerable margin, and she can rip through players and minions with ease with
it.
