Description As the aged
High Priestess of the Sisters of the Sightless Eye, Akara guides the Rogues
through spiritual means in Act I of the game. She is the eldest of the Rogues in
the Encampment and holds the highest seniority - even the fiery Kashya defers to
her. However, the pain of losing her sisters to Andariel's corruption recently
has left her in a state of shock and depression. She is dressed in a black robe
and a dark purple shawl, and you will find her near her tent at the right-hand
side of the Encampment. Being quite the feminist, Akara supports women who go
out in the world to battle evil, and she holds a special affection for the
Sorceress class.
Functions Being the chief
mystic amongst the Rogues, Akara has a large supply of magical weapons and items
collected from the travels of other Rogues throughout the lands.
In terms of weapons, she carries
Scepters, Wands, and Staves - weapons usually imbued with skill-enhancing
properties, aimed at the Paladin, Necromancer, and Sorceress, respectively. She
offers them in both normal weapon form, as well as those with magic suffixes and
prefixes.
She also has an inventory tab full of
miscellaneous magic items. She carries both Idenitfy and Town Portal Scrolls,
and occasionally she will have both types of books for sale. She also has Minor
Heal potions, Antidotes, Thawing potions, Stamina Potions, and some types of
thrown Poison potions.
She will also buy back any type of
item from you, whether it be a scroll or a sword, for 1/4 of the original
selling price. She'll take it and stock it in her own inventory for a while,
allowing other players to buy it from her.
Quests Akara will supply
you with your first quest, the Den of Evil, as soon as you talk to her
upon starting the game. With this quest, you must journey out into the Blood
Moor and rid a cave level of all monsters within. Once you have completed it,
Akara will congratulate you and give you a free skill point you can distribute
in any skill you want.
The second quest Akara will give you
is the Cairns Stones, in which you must fight your way to the Dark Wood
and return with the Scroll of Inifuss. Akara will translate the scroll for you,
after which you can use the answers revealed within the scroll to rescue Deckard
Cain from Tristram. When you return to Akara after rescuing Cain, she will thank
you for your efforts and reward you with a ring, with random
properties.
